Hyderabad, Mar 6 (IBNS): All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi attacked spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar over his 'Syria' remark.

Speaking to media, Owaisi said: "He is trying to incite violence through his remark."

"He does not believe in the constitution. He does not believe in the law. He feels he is the law himself," he said.

The spiritual leader recently said if the  Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi controversy is not solved then situation in India will be like war-torn Syria in future.

In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who has been holding parleys with the various parties involved in the Ram Mandir issue for a long time, said, "If Ram Mandir issue is not solved, we will have a Syria in India."

The spiritual leader was referring to the  ongoing Syrian crisis that has left several people killed over the years.

The multi-sided armed conflict in the nation is being fought primarily between President Bashar al-Assad's government, its allies, and forces opposing the government.

The civil war has entered its eighth year.

More than  465,000 Syrians have been killed in the war so far.

Speaking on the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi controversy, Sri Sri said: "  "Muslims should give up their claim on Ayodhya as a goodwill gesture... Ayodhya is not place of faith for Muslims."

Meanwhile, after the remarks triggered a controversy, Sri Sri on Tuesday said his 'caution' over the issue has been perceived as a 'threat'.

"Perceiving caution as a threat and a handshake as an assault is a sign of a distorted mind. #Ayodhya #RamMandir," he tweeted.
