SPO, civilian killed, cop injured in Sopore militant attack

Baramulla/UNI: A Special Police Officer (SPO) and a civilian were killed and a police constable injured when militants attacked a police party in apple township of Sopore in this north Kashmir district on Wednesday evening, official sources said.

 

They said militants attacked a police party at Warpora, Sopore, this evening with automatic weapons.

SPO Wajahat Ahmad and a policeman and a civilian were injured, they said adding the injured were rushed to hospital where SPO was declared dead.

Civilian Umar Subhan also succumbed to his injuries, sources said.

Later security forces from adjacent areas were rushed in for a search operation to nab the militants involved in the attack.
