Srinagar/IBNS: The death toll in the targeted terror attack on non-local workers in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam rose to two on Saturday after another injured worker succumbed to his bullet wounds, according to media reports.

Second worker succumbs to injuries

The deceased has been identified as Bhopendra, a resident of Chhattisgarh.

He had sustained bullet injuries to the chest in Friday's attack and was shifted to a hospital in Srinagar for treatment.

However, he later succumbed to his injuries, The Hindu reported.

Another worker was killed on the spot

The first victim, Deepak, also from Chhattisgarh, was shot dead when terrorists opened fire on Friday.

Both victims were employed at a brick kiln in Kulgam and were reportedly targeted in the attack.

Investigation underway

Security forces have launched an investigation into the attack as efforts continue to trace the terrorists involved.

The incident is the latest in a series of targeted attacks on non-local workers in the Union Territory.
