Punjab: 1 killed, 4 injured in separate road accidents

Phagwara, May 15 (UNI) A man was killed on the spot while his pillion rider critically injured when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding vehicle near Rawalpindi on Phagwara-Hoshiapur road in this district of Punjab.

The accident occurred on Tuesday night when the duo was proceeding towards Ludhiana from Hoshiarpur, police said.

The deceased was identified as Naresh Kumar and the injured as Shankar.
The injured was admitted to hospital. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Investigation was on.

In another incident, three people were injured when their car overturned after hitting a divider on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road in wee hours on Wednesday.
 
The injured were identified as Manoj Kumar, Rajinder Sheikh and Sunita Sheikh.
The trio was returning to Ludhiana from Chintpurni shrine in Himachal Pradesh.

The accident occurred as the car driver dozed off following which the vehicle rammed into the divider and overturned.

All injured were admitted in Civil hospital, Phagwara.
