Prashant Kishor, Nitish Kumar meeting sparks collab speculations ahead of 2024 polls
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his former aide and poll strategist Prashant Kishor met here last evening, triggering speculations that the two could collaborate for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, media reports said.
The meeting was arranged by Pawan Verma, who along with Prashant Kishor, had a bitter parting with Nitish.
Prashant Kishor also popularly known as PK has been sparring publicly with Nitish Kumar for the last few weeks.
He has raised questions over Nitish's reliability as a leader as he changed sides from the ruling alliance to the Opposition in a swift political move.
Kishor also dismissed JD (U)'s alliance with RJD's Tejashwi Yadav as something that could have little impact on national politics.
He appeared to downplay Nitish's significance as a leader who could challenge Narendra Modi.
In a sharp response, Nitish said when Kishor joined JD(U) he had asked him to leave his work as a poll strategist but he kept on working with different parties throughout the country as it was his business.
He also said that Kishor's comments indicate that he either wanted to be with BJP or wanted to help the party in a hidden way.
After today's meeting, which lasted 45 minutes, Nitish Kumar dismissed it as a "normal conversation".
He asked the reporters to seek the details of the meeting from PK.
The Bihar CM said the two didn't talk about anything special or something that they needed to do. There was no harm in meeting as they had known each other for long, he added.
PK had debuted in politics as Nitish Kumar's number two in the JDU but was sacked within two years after his sharp, public criticism of his then boss.
In the last two years, they met four times but their meetings have led to bouts of bitterness between the two.
