PM Modi urges citizens to have at least one pair of Khadi in their wardrobe
New Delhi, Jan 31 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation on 16th edition of monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', urged all people to have at least one pair of Khadi in their wardrobe.
"On 30th January, martyrdom day of beloved Bapu, I once again urge people to have at least 1 pair of Khadi in their wardrobe," PM Modi said.
PM Modi stated that Sardar Patel had said India's independence lies is in usage of 'Khadi'.
"Khadi has now become a symbol, a distinct identity in itself. Khadi has become a centre of attraction for the youth too," said he.
The Prime Minister said Khadi has the power to provide employment to crores of people.
"Some initiatives have been taken to give boost to Khadi production. I was told that to fulfill this demand of Khadi from government departments, additional jobs of 18 lakh man days will be generated," Modi said during the address.
