PM Modi to cut down on his foreign tours in 2016?

New Delhi, Jan 1 (IBNS) Even since he took office 19 months ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already visited 33 countries, but has put on hold his circumnavigation plans, as he wants to focus on the upcoming budget, according to reports.

PM Modi wants to be in India in 2016 to fortify his bond with the citizens of this country.

A top diplomat was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying, "PM Modi’s hectic external engagements were to dispel the notion that a former chief minister with little diplomatic experience could not make it to the high table as well as counter a campaign by pro-Congress intellectuals to deny him a visa to travel to the West because of his so-called role in the 2002 Gujarat riots." 

According to reports, the PM is unlikely to travel unless it's 'too important'.
