'One nation, one election' is plot of BJP, says Mayawati

Lucknow, Jun 23 (UNI): Alleging the BJP had a hidden agenda behind 'One nation, one election', BSP supremo Mayawati on Sunday said it was an attempt to hide previous scams in the elections and making new pitch for future.

In a statement released here on Sunday, Mayawati said that if the state Assembly elections and general elections are conducted simultaneously, BJP's conspiracy would be successful and Opposition would be too weak to stand firmly.

She alleged that a big conspiracy was there behind the recent victory of BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.

The BSP president said that if BJP does not heed to the Opposition's concerns on the EVM and continue to be adamant on it, then public has to think for other options of resist. She instructed the party workers that in the coming elections, every worker has to be prepared, to counter any conspiracy through EVMs.

She also questioned the role of Election Commission in the previous LS elections and alleged that EVM and EC were working, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said that all constitutional bodies should ponder to deal with the situation.

She also instructed party workers to initiate campaigns for public meetings at the ground level. She said that party workers and leaders should contribute in public welfare initiatives and prepare for the next Assembly elections.
