Odisha: Minor girl commits suicide after a tampered nude video goes viral

Bhubaneswar, June 2 (UNI) A minor girl, unable to bear the mental agony, committed suicide after some youths, posted in the social media her tampered photos that made her appear nude.

According to IIC of Patkura police station Sujit Pradhan, the, minor girl, who had appeared in the matriculation examination, committed suicide recently.


Sources said the victim girl went with her friends to a studio, located near her village. Her photograph was doctored by photographer Amar Das, and his associate Rashmi Ranjan Mallick.


The duo also allegedly produced porn videos of the girl and later blackmailed her.


When the girl came to know about the viral photographs she committed suicide on May 20 last.


The mother of the victim minor girl on May 27 last filed an FIR against Amar Das, Rashmi Ranjan Mallick, Nima Mallick, and Ranjit Mallick at Patkura police station for tampering her daughter’s photo and making it viral in the social media, besides blackmailing her.


Acting on the FIR, Patkura police registered a case under various sections of IPC, section 66 IT Act and 12 POCSO Act against the four youths.
No arrest has been made so far. The Patkura police has been conducting raids at various places to nab the accused, Pradhan said.
