Nawaz Sharif welcomes Modi's initiative to visit Pakistan

Islamabad, Dec 25 (IBNS): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday welcomed Indian PM Narendra Modi's initiative to visit his nation, officials in Pakistan said.

"Prime Minister of Pakistan welcomed the initiative of the Prime Minister of India to visit Lahore," posted the Official Twitter Account for the Spokesperson of Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Spokesperson said both the leaders expressed their desire to carry forward the dialogue process.

"Both leaders expressed their desire to carry forward the dialogue process for larger good of peoples of the two countries," read another tweet.

"The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue and enhance contacts and work together to establish good neighborly relations," read the last tweet posted by the Spokesperson.

Ending his sudden visit to Pakistan, Indian PM Narendra Modi has left for India.

"Infusing a positive spirit in the neighborhood. PM @narendramodi departs from Pakistan after a few hours in Lahore," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

In his quick visit to the neighbouring nation which lasted for few hours, Modi met his counterpart Nawaz Sharif on Friday.

He also attended Sharif's home in Raiwind where his grand-daughter's wedding is being held.

On his arrival to Pakistan, Sharif welcome Modi at the airport in Lahore with a hug.

Modi reached Pakistan after ending his visit to Russia and Afghanistan.
