Narendra Modi seeks UK PM Theresa May's help on 'economic offenders'
The move was made at a time when Indian government is working hard to ensure liquor baron Vijay Mallya's return.
Speaking on the meeting between May and Modi, MEA spokesperson Gopal Baglay tweeted: "PM @narendramodi meets UK PM @theresa_may on sidelines of #G20. Asks for UK's cooprn for return of escaped Indian economic offenders."
Mallya fled to the UK in March 2016 and has been living there since then. The Indian Government has been putting in efforts for his extradition for investigation in connection with alleged money laundering by him.
Meanwhile, Modi is currently in Hamburg to attend the G20 Summit.
He has met several top world leaders on the sidelines of the event.
