New Delhi/IBNS: Violent protests by workers over wage issues in Noida were not spontaneous but appeared to be systematically coordinated using digital platforms, police said as investigations continued.
According to Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, authorities have so far arrested around 400 individuals in connection with the unrest.
Initial findings indicate the involvement of structured groups leveraging technology to mobilise crowds rapidly.
Social media, messaging platforms under scrutiny
Police officials reported that several social media accounts were created within a short span of three to four days leading up to the protests.
These accounts, along with dedicated WhatsApp groups, were allegedly used to circulate messages and coordinate actions.
Authorities noted that the pattern suggests a deliberate and organised effort, with indications of a setup resembling a call centre operation to amplify mobilisation and messaging.

Audio clips, group chats raise concerns
Investigators have identified an audio message circulated on WhatsApp that allegedly called on participants to gather and confront police personnel.
In addition, an Instagram group chat that surfaced during the probe showed messages encouraging participants to carry items such as chilli powder to use during confrontations.
Police confirmed that these digital materials are part of the ongoing investigation, though independent verification of their authenticity remains pending.

QR codes used for rapid mobilisation
Officials highlighted the use of QR codes as a key tool in expanding participation.
Organisers reportedly used these codes to add members quickly to multiple WhatsApp groups, allowing for fast and widespread communication while maintaining anonymity.

CCTV footage shows targeted vandalism
Authorities stated that several protesters wore masks and deliberately targeted CCTV cameras in an apparent attempt to avoid identification.
Footage collected from multiple locations shows individuals damaging public property and creating disruption during the protests.

Investigators are also examining potential financial backing and whether any external elements may have contributed to the planning or execution of the protests.
Officials indicated that the funding trail is under scrutiny, including the possibility of links beyond the state or country.
Wage revision announced amid unrest
Amid the developments, the Government of Uttar Pradesh announced an increase in minimum wages across worker categories, with revised rates effective retrospectively from April 1.
In Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, unskilled workers will now receive Rs 13,690 per month, up from Rs 11,313. Semi-skilled workers will earn Rs 15,059, while skilled workers will receive Rs 16,868.

CM calls for compliance with labour norms
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged employers to ensure the timely payment of wages, fair overtime compensation, weekly leave, bonuses and social security provisions.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining safe working conditions, particularly for women workers.
