Narendra Modi congratulates newly elected Rajya Sabha MPs
New Delhi, Mar 24 (IBNS): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished all the candidates who emerged victorious in the Rajya Sabha elections held on Friday.
"Congratulations to all those elected to the Rajya Sabha from various states and best wishes for their Parliamentary career. I hope they effectively voice the aspirations of the states they will represent," Modi tweeted congratulating the newly elected MPs.

Modi tweeted his congratulatory message, hours after election results were declared on Friday.
Beating the Samajwadi Party (SP) and practically decimating the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won nine out of 10 seats in the Rajya Sabha elections.
BJP chief Amit Shah has beaten Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav in the prestige battle for the Upper House seat.
This has come as a big boon for the ruling BJP.
In another crucial win, Anil Agarwal, who was BJP’s ninth candidate, defeated BSP’s Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Actress Jaya Bachchan won the single seat for SP.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated all winners.
Earlier the counting for votes in UP were delayed by two hours.
Meanwhile in Karnataka, Congress won three seats in the Rajya Sabha poll while the BJP managed one.
There were reports of alleged "illegal voting" by Congress MLAs.
Earlier in the evening, the BJP managed to register a win at the Chhattisgarh seat.
49-year old Saroj Pandey bagged 51 votes while Congress candidate and former legislator Lekhram Sahu secured 36 votes in Chattisgarh.
In West Bengal, all four Trinamool candidates-Nadimul Haque and first time nominees Subhasish Chakraborty, Abir Biswas and Santanu Sen-won the Rajya Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, Congress's Abhishek Manu Singhvi also emerged victorious in the Upper House elections from West Bengal.
In Telanagana, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) bagged all three Rajya Sabha seats.
B. Prakash, J. Santosh Kumar and AB. Lingaiah Yadav have been elected to the Upper House.
Friday witnessed the voting for the Rajya Sabha elections 2018 in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana.
