Manipur : 2 Assam Rifles jawans killed in bomb explosion
Imphal, Aug 28 (IBNS) : Two jawans of Assam Rifles were killed and another was injured in a powerful bomb explosion at a remote area in Manipur on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place at Old Somtal area under Chandal district, where suspected United National Liberation Front (UNLF) militants had
triggered the explosion.
The bomb exploded at the remote area when the personnel of 3rd Assam Rifles battalion were patrolling near their post.
The injured security personnel were rushed to Leimakhong Army Hospital where two corps succumbed to their injuries.
Top Army and police officials had rushed to the area and launched operation against the militants.
Meanwhile, the UNLF has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
