Maharashtra govt mulls to roll out group farming scheme soon

Kolhapur, May 22 (UNI) Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil on Wednesday said that the government has resolved to implement group farming scheme in the state as well as collective system for marketing.

A review meeting was held to discuss on the issues of pre-Kharif crops, after which Mr Patil addressed the media at the government guest house here.


The minister said that the concept of group farming involves minimum of 20 farmers toiling collectively on a specific geographical area.


He further said that Rs 570 lakh grant has been given to six group of farmers in the year 2018-19 in this district.


Patil told that the government is mulling to deposit the interest,recurring on the Fixed Deposits of farmers,directly to the bank accounts of farmers' wives.


The idea is to provide the farmer a sort of salary as a government employee receives it,he asserted.
