Land disputes are reason for majority of crimes in UP: Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow, Jun 19 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called for disposing off land disputes in the state saying it was the main reason behind majority of the crimes.

He also claimed that around 25 to 30 per cent of the names in the voter lists are fake which should be rectified soon.

The CM made these comments while distributing laptops to the lekhpals in the state here on Wednesday.

"Timely disposing of the land related disputes could end the several crimes that happens in the state. Delay in solving the dispute within the family or outside of the property particularly land leads to major confrontation and then it turns into a criminal affair," he said.

Claiming that distribution of laptops would expedite the functioning of the lekhpals and it will speed up their work, the CM said ,"Now these lekhpals will not have to wait to reach to their offices to make a report and send it to the district authorities. They will now be able to work efficiently from the field."

Besides, the CM said when the income, caste and domicile certificates have been made online, the responsibility of the lekhpals have increased and laptops would help them in their work.

He also said that efforts should be made to remove the fake voters from the electoral rolls and lekhpals could be a big help for it. "About 25 to 30 per cent names in the electoral rolls are fake while the genuine voters don't get their names enrolled in the list. This should be seen by the lekhpals," he said.

After smart phone, the UP government distributed laptops to the lekhpals in order to increase their efficiency.

The programme was scheduled to be held on Tuesday but was postponed to Wednesday due to sudden visit of the CM to New Delhi.

The CM gave away 21 laptops as a symbol to the lekhpals of the Lucknow district during the function here on Wednesday.
