Kolkata: Ghulam Ali's concert to be shifted to Mohun Bagan ground ?

Kolkata, Jan 8 (IBNS): As the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) said no to Pakistani ghazal Singer Ghulam Ali's concert at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the organizers are planning to shift the venue of the programme, which is scheduled to be held on Jan 12, to Mohun Bagan Ground.

After receiving negative answer from the CAB, a delegation from West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (WBMDFC), which is the organizer of this event, inspected the Mohun Bagan Ground on Friday morning and selected the ground as the venue for Ghulam Ali's concert.

After the inspection was over, one member of the delegation team, TMC MP Sultan Ahmed told IBNS, "Mohun Bagan ground is okay for holding the concert. We and Kolkata Police have inspected the ground today. Police officers said that they didn't have any problem to arrange security there. The Mohun Bagan club authorities also don't have any problem. We are going to meet with our Chief Minister to discuss on this. After the meeting, we will officially announce the final venue of the concert, which will be hosted on Jan 12, this evening."

The WBMDFC at first selected the Park Circus Maidan to host the concert. For several problems, organizers decided to shift the event to iconic cricket stadium- Eden Gardens- and requested the CAB for permission. As the International Cricket Council (ICC)'s team is coming to Eden Gardens for inspection on Jan 15, ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup-2016 (which will be held in Mar-Apr), the CAB ruled out organizers' proposal to host the concert at Eden Gardens.

However, the Mohun Bagan ground is located just opposite of Eden Gardens.
