New Delhi, Jan 1 (IBNS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is elated with the success of his odd-even formula, that got implemented on a trial basis on Friday.

In a series of tweets Kerjiwal said, "Delhi has done it! Reports so far v encouraging. Delhiites! U give me hope that U are capable of achieving big challenges."

Kejriwal, who exempted only the VVIP's from the newly implemented law, but not himself, had spoken about car-pooling earlier while travelling to office.

The Delhi CM tweeted, "Am pooling my car n going to office with 2 ministers, my PS and my Joint Secy."

To check air pollution trouble in New Delhi, the national capital is witnessing the implementation of the odd-even vehicle plan from Friday.

The  vehicles with number plates ending with an odd number will be allowed to ply one day and those ending with an even number the next day from Friday.

Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai had said odd-numbered cars would be allowed on odd dates, like January 1, 3 and 5, and even-numbered cars on even dates.

On Sundays, all private cars will be allowed to ply on roads.

Women drivers, those with children below 12, CNG cars and a number of 'VIPs' except Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be exempted from the odd-even formula for the first 15 days of the New Year.

However, this rule is not applicable on public transport.

The Delhi government earlier said that it hoped to cut down vehicular pollution in the state by half with this measure.

Kejriwal had also  promised to scrap the system if people find it hard to follow it in the first 15 days.
