Jammu and Kashmir: JKTPO, DGFT hosts virtual exporters' registration, promotion workshop

 Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO), in association with Office of Additional Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), today organised a virtual capacity building workshop on Export Registration.

The aim of the Export Registration Drive was to motivate and train young entrepreneurs for exports. In all, 115 participants registered for the event, that was attended by Director Industries & Commerce, Jammu, Director(s) Handicrafts & Handloom, Jammu/Kashmir, Director Agriculture Kashmir and other senior officials from DGFT Ludhiana.

This is the first ever association between JKTPO and DGFT for a seminar and workshop.

The Exporter Registration Drive gave an overview of import-export procedures, documentation and awareness about the facilities and benefits provided by Foreign Trade Policy of Government of India.

The JKTPO encouraged the entrepreneurs and artisans to get themselves registered on its portal. Niryat Bandhu is DGFT’s initiative for mentoring first generation entrepreneurs in the arena of international business.

The event also witnessed a Question & Answer session.

Earlier, Suvidh Shah, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade welcomed J&K Govt. and JKTPO for joining hands with DGFT to organize this workshop for Export registration and promotion.

“This is our first initiative with J&K govt through JKTPO. We ensure more such webinars soon to encourage and help our traders. We also look forward to organise in person sessions in Jammu and Srinagar,” he said.

Managing Director JKTPO Ankita Kar said, We have tried to explore new markets for traditional products of J&K Handicrafts, Handloom, Horticulture and Agriculture sector.”

Inviting the interested traders for guidance, she said the doors of JKTPO are always open to facilitate the queries and handhold our trade fraternity.”

She said that Jammu & Kashmir is a leading exporter of apples, pashmina and raffle shawls which are recognized world over with high potential for foreign trade.

"JKTPO through various skill training workshops and seminars is working towards accelerating the exports and offering a global platform to the skilled workforce of J&K” she added.
