Indian Army soldier commits suicide in north Kashmir’s Kupwara

Srinagar, Jun 18 (UNI) An Army soldier allegedly committed suicide by shooting self with his service rifle in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara on Tuesday.

Official sources said that a jawan, who was posted in Sadau Ganga area in Kupwara, allegedly shot himself with his service rifle when he was on duty on Tuesday morning. 'Other soldiers rushed towards the area and found him in a pool of blood,' they said.

The soldier was immediately rushed to a military hospital, where he was declared brought dead. 'It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step,' they said, adding that police has registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident.
