Haryana Crime: Police tightens noose on rapists

| @indiablooms | Jun 03, 2019, at 04:54 pm

Chandigarh, June 3 (UNI) Through a series of concerted and coordinated measures, the Haryana Police is moving ahead for securing justice to child rape victims by ensuring effective prosecution and securing conviction for offenders booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant provisions of IPC dealing with rape of children.

As a result of these efforts during the last two months alone, as many as 19 persons, who were accused of raping girls below 18 years, have been brought to justice through effective and concerted presentation of evidences before the concerned courts.

It is one of the maxims of criminal jurisprudence that certainty of punishment is more of a deterrent to a crime than the severity of punishment.

Keeping this in view, the Director General of Police Manoj Yadava immediately after taking over had issued instruction to the district Superintendents of Police and Commissioners of Police to ensure effective investigation of such cases.
