Five NDFB-S ultras gunned down in lower Assam

Guwahati, Aug 20 (IBNS): At least five National Democratic Front of Bodoland-Songbijit (NDFB-S) militants were gunned down during a joint operation by the police and an army team in Chirang district of lower Assam in the wee hours on Wednesday.

The slain NDFB-S cadres were not identified yet, police said.

The encounter took place at around 4.45 am in the forest cover of Raimati under Runikhata police station area when the militants opened fire targeting the security personnel.

Police said an AK series rifle, five pistols, six magazines, five grenades, 60 rounds of ammunition and Rs. 1 lakh cash were recovered from the slain extremists.
