Five HNLC militants nabbed in Karbi Anglong

Guwahati, Sept 20 (IBNS): Security forces busted a camp of Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) and apprehended five militants of the outfit while recovering a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong district in the past 48 hours officials said.

Guwahati based Defence official said that, based on specific intelligence about presence of Hynnietrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) militants, troops of army and Assam Police jointly launched a series of operations at multiple locations in West Karbi Anglong District of Assam on Sept 18-19.

During the operation, security forces apprehended five HNLC militants who were on hideout in the jungle near Assam-Meghalaya border.

Security forces have recovered two G3 Rifles, one 303 Rifle, one 7.62 mm Pistol, one Single Barrel Gun, 10 Kg explosive, 40 detonators, 66 rounds of live ammunition and other warlike stores from the hideout of the outfit.
