Congress leader KS Rao quits as minister
Hyderabad, Apr 3 (IBNS): Union textiles minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on Thursday resigned from his post as a mark of his protest against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and creation of Telangana state.
"I met the Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh) today and tendered my resignation. He was unwilling to accept my resignation, but I requested him to allow me leave," Rao told reporters.
Meanwhile, though the Congress leader has not taken a decision on whether he will leave the party too or not, media reports said Rao is considering joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
"I have not decided on quitting the Congress yet. Also, I would like to clarify that I am not in talks with Rajnath Singh (BJP president) over joining the party," he said.
