BJP's controversial choice Pragya Singh Thakur set for record win in Bhopal
Bhopal, May 23 (IBNS): Controversial BJP candidate from Bhopal Pragya Singh Thakur is set for a mammoth win with Congress candidate Digvijaya Singh coming a distant second. At 5:35pm, he was trailing by more than three lakh votes.
The BJP had faced a lot of criticism for fielding the Malegaon blasts accused, who is now out on bail.
During campaign, Thakur - who calls herself Sadhvi Pragya - had embarrassed the party with her comments on Hemant Karkare, who was martyred during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks of 2008.
The party had disciplined her, among two other leaders, for speaking in support of Nathuram Godse, Mahatma Gandhi's assassin.
At the time of filing this report, the BJP had won or was leading in 303 seats.
The Congress, in contrast, had won or was leading in only 50.
