Biplab Kumar Deb unanimously chosen as Tripura BJP party leader in the state assemby
Agartala, Mar 6 (IBNS): As anticipated, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has chosen Biplab Kumar Deb as the party's leader in Tripura state assembly, according to media reports on Tuesday.
Deb, president of the BJP in Tripura was unanimously chosen by the party as the chief minister, announced Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, media reports said.
Media quoted Gadkari, who was appointed the observer by president Amit Shah, as saying that BJP MLA Jishnu Debbarma will be the deputy chief minister.
The Manik Sarkar-led CPI-M, who ruled the state for nearly 25 years, were thrown out by the BJP in the latest Assembly election.
BJP won 43 seats in the statecand the Left 16 seats.
Meanwhile, welcoming BJP's landmark victory in Tripura, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the win in the state will be remembered as an 'epoch-making one'.
