Bihar: Lakhs of voters press NOTA button during LS polls

Patna, May 23 (UNI) Lakhs of voters opted for none of the above (NOTA) button during the seven-phase Lok Sabha election in Bihar.

Sources at the state election office said that altogether 499957 voters pressed NOTA button on EVMs in Lok Sabha election in the state, staggering over seven phases. Sources said two per cent electorate of total voters opted for NOTA in the state during the election.

The number of total voters in the state was 7,12,16,290, out of which 4,99,957 voters opted for NOTA button.

Sources said 13,571 voters pressed NOTA button in Araria Lok Sabha constituency, 11,545 voters in Ara, 6,373 voters in Aurangabad, 2,520 voters in Banka, 12,916 voters in Begusarai, 11,696 voters in Bhagalpur, 4,981 voters in Buxar, 20,421 voters in Darbhanga, 13,707 voters in Gaya, 36,289 voters in Gopalganj, 11,973 voters in Hajipur, 14,360 voters in Jehanabad, 29,236 voters in Jamui and 4713 voters Jhanjharpur.

Similarly, 7,231 voters pressed NOTA button in Karakat constituency followed by 14,094 voters in Katihar, 2,868 voters in Khagaria, 1,1766 voters in Kishanganj, 11,115 voters in Madhepura, 2,494 voters in Madhubani. 13,350 voters in Maharajganj, 2,806 voters in Munger, 4,374 voters in Muzaffarpur, 2,833 voters in Nalanda and 24,561 voters in Nawada.

Sources said 39,,446 voters opted for NOTA button in West Champaran constituency, 2,768 voters in Patliputra constituency, 2,832 voters in Patna Sahib, 13,192 voters in Purnea, 10,590 voters in East Champaran, 29,826 voters in Samastipur, 21,563 voters in Saran, 14,244 Sasaram, 3,477 voters in Sheohar, 8,850 voters in Sitamarhi, 4,716 voters in Siwan, 5,967 voters in Supaul, 12,428 voters in Ujiarpur, 10,939 voters in Vaishali and 271 voters in Valmikinagar.
