Patna/UNI: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Thursday said his state and other backward states would be given special status if the yet-to-form front of opposition parties was voted to power in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Kumar told media persons here that he had been advocating for special status to Bihar but this genuine demand was not accepted despite requests made by him in this connection.

He had never given up the demand of special status for Bihar, Kumar stressed.

"We had even launched a drive to exert pressure on Centre for acceptance of the special status demand for Bihar but it yielded no result", the Chief Minister pointed out.

Both from party and government level, demand for special status to Bihar was consistently made, he stated.

Kumar while responding to a query of media persons said that Bihar and other backward states of the country would definitely get special status if the proposed front of opposition was voted to power in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

He had been talking about special status to not only Bihar but other states as well, Kumar noted.
