Guwahati, Dec 3 (IBNS) : Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday announced that the state government is formulating a separate policy for all round development of the people with disability.

On the occasion of International Day of People with Disability, Gogoi said that the state government is committed to integrating differently abled persons in every sphere of life by chalking out a policy to stimulate their development.

“The persons with disability are not our liability but assets to the society,” Gogoi said.

Gogoi underlined the need for generating awareness about disability issues and raising the rights, dignity and welfare of the differently abled people.

“We need to be more sensitive, more sensible and more responsive in dealing with the issues of differently abled persons and to hammer out a level playing field to change misconception and counter stigma and stereotyping about persons with disability,” the Assam CM said.
