Assam Cabinet increases OBC reservation in medical colleges to 26%

Guwahati, June 16 (IBNS): The BJP led Assam government cabinet on Friday decided to increase the OBC reservation in medical colleges from 15 per cent to 26 per cent.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, the cabinet meeting held in Dispur on Friday evening decided to increase the reservation quota of OBC in medical college seats.

“The OBC reservation in medical colleges will be increased to 26 per cent from previous 15 per cent. The cabinet also decided to increase the seats in medical colleges for tea tribes from 8 to 18,” Sarma said.

The minister further said that, the cabinet also increased the seats in medical colleges for Moran-Motok community from two to three.

On the other hand, the state cabinet decided to hand over 1300 bigha land of closure public and undertaking enterprises to state industry and commerce department.
