Army continues flood relief operations

New Delhi, Nov 18 (IBNS) The Indian Army on Wednesday said two Army Flood Relief Columns carried out extensive rescue and relief operations atTambaram and Mudichur areas in Chennai on Tuesday.

The rescue teams succeeded in bringing over 2500 marooned civilians to safety and provided relief material including food and water.

Additionally, 474 patients were evacuated from two civil hospitals, Miot and Global Hospital and over 200 persons were provided medical assistance by Army Medical Teams.

Having addressed critical areas yesterday, the Army columns are presently on standby for any adverse contingencies.
