Kolkata, Aug 20 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said 13 business dealings have commenced between Singapore and her state.

In a bid to attract more investments and partnerships, Banerjee commenced her first foreign trip as CM as she left for Singapore on Sunday last.

"Today was a milestone occasion for West Bengal. This morning, we had a business summit of more than 200 officials and industrialists, all of whom have showed much passion and determination to make West Bengal achieve greater heights. A promising 13 business dealings have commenced between Singapore and West Bengal," Banerjee said in a Facebook post.

She said: "I am confident that in the near future we will have a stronger and more dynamic business relationship with Singapore. This is part of our bigger dream to have local roots with global pursuits, and make our 'Biswa Bangla' brand resonate beyond our borders."

She met the Bengali Association of Singapore on Wednesday.

"They are a lively representation of our beautiful culture. They too have responded positively to support their roots," she said.

"Tomorrow I will meet Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr K Shanmugam who had invited me to this country," she said.
