Twitter to allow 10,000 characters tweet?

San Francisco, Jan 6 (IBNS) Micro blogging site Twitter is set for a major revamp as the company is planning to increase the word limit for a tweet, ditching the traditional 140 characters for a prolonged 10,000 characters, according to sources.

The move is on the cards but nothing official about it has been confirmed by the company as of yet.

"Twitter is currently testing a version of the product in which tweets appear the same way they do now, displaying just 140 characters, with some kind of call to action that there is more content you can't see," recode.net reported.

According to reports by the Wall Street Journal, the expansion of word limit is a test, a promise earlier made by the Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

Dorsey had earlier claimed that he wants to make Twitter more user friendly to people.
