Snapchat hosts first Creator Connect event in Kolkata

Kolkata/IBNS: Snapchat has made an important move to grow in Eastern India by hosting its first Creator Connect event in Kolkata.

This shows the platform’s strong interest in supporting local digital creators and teaming up with media and content partners from the region.

The event, which brought together over 100 top creators, public figures, agencies, and brands, aimed to empower creators from Bengali, Bhojpuri, Odia, Assamese, and other North-eastern backgrounds.

It featured interactive sessions, expert discussions, and demos of Snapchat’s content tools such as Lenses, Spotlight, and Stories, which help creators grow and engage with audiences.

Key partnerships were announced with leading regional content houses like SVF (Hoichoi), Eskay Movies, Angel Digital (Klikk), Yashi Films, and Dangal TV.

These partnerships will help creators access mentorship, training through Snap School, and tools for monetization including global revenue-sharing programs.

Saket Jha Saurabh, Director of Content and AR Partnerships at Snap Inc., called Kolkata the “perfect fit” to launch Creator Connect, saying the East is bursting with culture, creativity, and storytelling.

“From music and movies to art and literature, this region has it all!” he said, adding that Snapchat sees huge creative energy here just waiting to go viral.

The event saw a lineup of creators including Amulya Rattan, The Bong Guy (Kiran Dutta), Neel Bhattacharya, Gourab Tapadar from the Pretkotha Podcast, and Cuty Beauty Khan.

In special fireside chats, creator Priyam Ghose shared his experiences on Snapchat, while Mahendra Soni from SVF talked about how Snapchat is shaping pop culture.

To celebrate Kolkata’s creative energy, Snapchat also teamed up with local artists Justin Rozario and Nilavadas.

Together, they created a stunning AR mural that turned a hand-painted canvas into a lively scene featuring the city’s iconic yellow taxi — blending art and technology in true Kolkata style.

One of the most exciting parts of the event was the demo of Snap’s latest Spectacles—special AR glasses that let people experience real-time Lenses.
