Tech giant Apple has introduced a new device leasing programme in the United States in partnership with payments company Klarna, offering customers a flexible way to access the latest Apple devices through monthly payments.

Called Apple Upgrade, the programme allows customers to lease eligible iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple Watch models through Klarna.

According to a statement issued by Klarna, customers can choose from 12- and 24-month leasing plans for iPhone and Apple Watch, and 24- and 36-month leasing plans for Mac and iPad.

"In addition, when customers first enroll in Apple Upgrade, they can trade in an existing device to further lower their monthly payments during their initial lease term," Klarna said in the statement.

At the end of the lease period, customers can choose to upgrade to the latest eligible device, purchase their current device, or return it.

Klarna said customers can apply for the leasing programme after selecting their preferred device and lease term through Apple Retail, including the Apple Online Store, Apple Store app, or physical Apple Store locations.

The application process takes only a few minutes, and customers approved by Klarna can complete their purchase as they normally would at Apple Retail. In-store customers can take home their new device immediately, while online shoppers can opt for home delivery or in-store pickup.

Customers will also be able to track upcoming payments and manage their lease throughout the term using the Klarna app.

The Apple Upgrade leasing programme is now available through the Apple Online Store, the Apple Store app and Apple Store locations across the United States.
