Kolkata, July 6  (IBNS): The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Society for Heritage and Ecological Researches (SHER) recently organised a photography-based session with well-known professional wildlife photographer Dhritiman Mukherjee.

Mukherjee has traveled and photographed most of the national parks and bio-zones in India.

He has also covered some of the major international wildlife destinations.

He is known for his passion to capture wildlife in their natural settings.

His photographs has been published in BBC, National Geographic ,New York Times, Lonely Planet ,The Guardian, Bird  Life International, etc.

In a lively conversation with Joydip  Kundu, General Secretary of SHER, Mukherjee regaled the audience with tales of his adventures among some of the most spectacular locales in the world as well spoke about the ethics he practices during nature photography.

Many of his photographs  include those on the endangered list like Ladakh Snow Leopard, Narkondam  Hornbill of the Andamans and Nicobar Islands, Olive Ridley Turtles of Odisha, Green Anaconda of Brazil, Gorilas of Congo, Whale sharks of Coastal areas of Mexico to name a few. Mr. Mukherjee is deeply sensitive about the delicate balance of nature and through his photography tries to give a verbal representation for the silent world of the wild flora and fauna and draw the attention of people to the necessity of preserving them instead of plundering them for selfish need and human greed. Also photography is not about competition. Of late it has inspired bad competition among photographers where they have destroyed a particular natural setting after taking a short to maintain exclusivity. Such acts only destroys the natural life and is setting a very dangerous precedent for the future generations, he added.

Said Dhritiman Mukherjee, “I am not an expert nor an artist. I am a photographer. Art is not my goal, my medium is art. My motto is to connect people with nature through pictures."
