Washington: Uyghur American activist Rushan Abbas recently protested on the second anniversary of her sister’s detention in northwestern China’s Xinjiang province in front of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, media reports said on Sunday.

She demanded safe release of her family members.

Abbas recently alleged that Uyghur women have been facing genocide in the hands of Chinese as they are being raped, tortured and brainwashed.

Campaign for Uyghurs Executive Director Rushan Abbas said the issues raised by Disney’s choice to film in a land stained by China’s genocide has serious implications for the entire global community, and especially for the Muslim ummah worldwide. "As a Uyghur Muslim, I am horrified that the destruction of my people is being overlooked because of Chinese blood money. Many individuals are already complicit in this genocide by using the products made by Uyghur slaves, and now by the ways that Disney gives tacit approval of the Chinese regime’s actions," she said in a video statement. #uyghur #china #xingjiang #mulan #mulandisney #uighur #uighurgenocide #disney @campaignforuyghurs #rushanabbas @rushanabbas

Uyghur American activist and advocate from Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China Rushan Abbas was quoted as saying by ANI: "In modern world, Uyghur women in east Turkistan (Xinjiang) are being treated as criminals because of their ethnicity and religion. They are perceived as a threat to the Chinese state because of their reproductive abilities."

“They are facing rape, brain washing, forced sterilization and forced abortions and other types of seemingly unimaginable abuse. Because the perpetrator of these crimes is the Chinese government, the world is silent? China is conducting genocide and where are the celebrities and the vocal feminists?” the activist asked.

"Protesting in front of the @ChineseEmbinUS for the 2year anniversary of #DrGulshanAbbas’s extrajudicial detention&the detainment of 3million + #Uyghurs in #China’s camps. @AmbCuiTiankai , we demand the safe&speedy release of our family members! Give us proof of life! @AHakimIdris," the activist tweeted.
