Three suspected terrorists killed in raid in Saint Denis

Paris, Nov 18 (IBNS) Three suspected terrorists were killed, including a woman who detonated a suicide bomb, as gunfire and explosions rocked the Paris suburb of St Denis on Wednesday when French police and soldiers surrounded a building engaging a group holed up inside in a heavy exchange of fire.

Reports said even though three people died, the  operation was continuing to flush out two other suspects. One civilian was also killed in the operation.

Three police officers were injured in the assault.

The  target of the raid was Islamic State militant Abedelhamid Abaaoud, who was initially thought to have masterminded the  Paris attacks from Syria.

The operation came five days after the deadly terror attacks in Paris that killed 129 people.

Five suspects had been arrested at the scene close to the national stadium which was one of the targets of last Friday's attacks.

The area was closed down and intermittent gunfire could still be heard.

French police officials have asked local residents not to leave their homes.
