Herat, Afghanistan/Xinhua/UNI: Three police were killed and three others sustained injury as a roadside bomb struck a police vehicle in the western Herat province on Saturday, provincial government spokesman Jilani Farhad said.

A mine planted by militants struck a police van outside Herat city on Saturday afternoon, killing three police and wounding three others, Farhad has confirmed.

The official put the attack on the Taliban, saying the Taliban insurgents are behind subversive activities to terrorize the people.

Taliban militants have yet to claim responsibility.
