Proxy war in Afghanistan: Demonstration held outside Sweden's Pakistan embassy

Stockholm: Protesting against Pakistan's involvement in a proxy war in Afghanistan, a demonstration was held outside the country's embassy in Sweden on Friday, media reports said.

According to an official statement, a group of 50 to 60 people, including those hailing from Afghanistan, staged a peaceful protest in front of the Pakistan Embassy in Sweden, raising slogans and holding placards against the alleged involvement of Pakistan in conducting a proxy war in Afghanistan, reports ANI news agency.

The Swedish Police reportedly escorted the demonstrators.

They delivered short speeches in English, Swedish, Urdu, Pashto and Dari (Persians), in which they alleged that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence of supporting the Taliban, ANI reported.

Protestors carried placards that sported signs “Stop the War in Afghanistan”, “Stop Killing Afghans” and “Stop supporting the Taliban”. The protestors handed over a letter addressed to the Pakistan Ambassador to an official of the embassy before dispersing peacefully, the news agency reported.
