Pakistani leader Ahsan Iqbal slams Imran Khan for sending letter to IMF over national polls

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal has slammed former PM Imran Khan for writing a letter to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over the issue of auditing general polls.

Addressing a ceremony here, the former planning minister dubbed the PTI founder’s move as “enmity with the country’, saying that another attempt was made to obstruct the loan programme by writing a letter to the IMF, reported ARY News.

Imran Khan last week confirmed he wrote a letter to the IMF and urged the global lender to give the poll results a thorough once-over before cutting any new cheques for Islamabad.

Speaking to the media at the Adiala Jail, Khan raised alarms about the potential consequences of obtaining a loan under the current circumstances.

“If the country gets a loan in such a situation, then who will return it?” he was quoted as saying by ARY News.

Pakistan voted to elect a new government on February 8.
