Karachi: A water tank exploded in Pakistan's Karachi city on Friday, media reports said.

Police and rangers officials arrived at the sight shortly after the blast and cordoned off the area, reports Geo News.

The blast occurred inside a bank.

"The bank's shutters, a vehicle and two motorcycles were damaged due to the blast intensity," SSP Murtaza Tabassum told Geo News.

Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS)  also reached the scene later.

Initial investigations suggest a water tank exploded inside the bank due to a malfunction, Geo News reported.

No employee was present in the bank as Dec 25 is a public holiday in the country due to Christmas.

Only a security guard was present in the bank.
