Chairman of the Pakistani Senate's Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Mushahid Hussain Syed, who presented the resolution, told Xinhua that the main motive behind the move is to express full solidarity and support for China's battle with the novel coronavirus.

The Senate of Pakistan expresses its full solidarity and support for the government and people of China as they combat the coronavirus epidemic with dedication, commitment and courage, according to the resolution.

The resolution extends full cooperation with "our Chinese brethren in this difficult moment of the medical and health emergency."

The upper house also expressed its appreciation to the Chinese government for treating Pakistani citizens, especially students in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, just like their own by providing them protection and comfort.
