At least 10 people died and 22 others were injured after a fire broke out at RJ Mall on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road in Pakistan on Saturday, media reports said.

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab confirmed the fire incident and said the blaze has been douzed.

Confirming the casualty, he posted on X: "Fire had been extinguished & cooling process is going on. I can so far confirm 10 casualties & 22 persons have been injured."

Sharea Faisal Station House Officer (SHO) Raja Tariq Mehmood told Dawn News that the building was a commercial high-rise that housed shopping centres, call centres and software houses.

A statement from the Fire and Rescue spokesperson said they were alerted about the incident at 6:30am, after which eight fire tenders, two snorkels and two bowsers were sent.

The injured people were rushed to nearby hospital for treatment.
