Pakistan: Death toll in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa blast touches 40

The death toll in the blast which rocked a political gathering in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) region on Sunday touched 40, media reports said on Monday.

Caretaker Information Minister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel told Geo News that more than 200 people have been injured in the blast that took place during the speech of a  Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader.

The injured were rushed to Timergara and Peshawar for treatment.

Police said initial investigation revealed it was a suicide attack.

He added that the investigation teams are collecting evidence from the site of the blast.
