Pakistan: 14-yr-old Christian girl "abducted and converted" to Islam, but girl says it happened with consent

| @indiablooms | Dec 01, 2019, at 08:47 pm

Islamabad/IBNS: In a repetition of what had happened to Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, now a Pakistani Christian girl, who was identified as Huma Masih, has been allegedly abducted and then converted to Islam. However, the girl on a video message said she went with the man with her consent and converted though she being a minor the marriage is a violation of law.

Huma was also married to a Muslim man (supposedly a taxi driver) after her conversion.

However, Huma released a statement saying she was not kidnapped and was converted upon her own will and has done 'nikkah' (marriage) on her own will as well.

"If her statement is to be believed then that too remains a violation of Child Marriage Restraint Bill and Forced Conversions Bill," sources said.

However, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has sought a report on the matter.
