Nepali climber Kami Rita Sherpa reaches top of Everest for record 29th time

Nepalese climber Kami Rita Sherpa has reached the top of Everest for the 29th time in his life.

It makes him the climber holding the world record of most ascents on the world's highest peak.

"This morning at 7:25am, Kami Rita Sherpa successfully summited the world's highest mountain Mount Everest for an incredible 29th time," Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Chief Executive Officer at 14 Peaks Expedition, was quoted as saying by The Himalayan Times.

Chief of the Expedition Monitoring and Facilitation Field Office at the base camp Khimlal Gautam also confirmed to the newspaper that Kami Rita reached the summit point of Mt Everest breaking his own record of most successful ascents of the highest peak.

Kami Rita, a native of Thame village in Solukhumbu, Nepal, working as Senior Guide at 14 Peaks Expedition has been mountaineering all his life.
