Muammar Gaddafi's son sentenced to death

Tripoli, July 28 (IBNS) Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has been sentenced to death by a Libyan court over war crimes linked to the 2011 revolution.

 Saif al-Islam Gaddafi is the son of deposed leader Col Muammar Gaddafi.

Eight others have also been sentenced to death.

According to reports, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was not present in the court.

"He is being held by a former rebel group from the town of Zintan that refuses to hand him over," BBC reported.

A Zintani source indicated to the BBC that they would not execute him or hand him over to the court.
