Lifting all restrictions on relations with Taiwan, says Mike Pompeo

Washington/UNI: US State Secretary Mike Pompeo has announced that the US would deepen it's engagement with Taiwan as it is lifting all restrictions on relations with Taiwan.

In an official statement Pompeo said

"Today I am announcing that I am lifting all of these self-imposed restrictions. Executive branch agencies should consider all 'contact guidelines' regarding relations with Taiwan previously issued by the Department of State under authorities delegated to the Secretary of State to be null and void,".

People's Republic of China(PRC) claims Taiwan as part of its territory hence countries of the world stay clear of establishing diplomatic ties with Taiwan. This move of the United States is not likely to go down well with Beijing.
