Kenya's Garissa University College attacked by gunmen, several injured

Nairobi, Apr 2 (IBNS): Gunmen have attacked Garissa University College in northeast Kenya, leaving several people injured, media reports said on Thursday.

Speaking on the incident, the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government in The Office of the President tweeted: "An inter-agency security team has secured Garissa University & are in the process of flashing out the gunmen. #GarissaAttack."

Kenya Red Cross has said 30 people were injured in the attack.

In its official Twitter page, the organization said: "#GarissaAttack According to CEC Health 30 casualties taken to hospital. 4 are very serious. Majority of Casualties have gunshot wounds."

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet confirmed the attack and tweeted: "Garissa University was attacked early morning. Elite units from Police & KDF have responded."

Local media reports said two people were injured in the attack.
